Well hi there!

Hello beer drinking humans (and perhaps non beer drinking humans who have happened here by mistake, or beer drinking non humans). Welcome to Ale-ienation, which is the best beer related pun your authors could come up with while looking for a free url here on Word Press. We’re here to write about beer in its many lovable (and sometimes not so lovable) forms. Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, we have an exciting craft brewing scene as well as numerous bars dedicated to quality beer from around the world and plenty of beer-related events such as SF Beer Week. As such, we’ll be taking advantage of the wealth of resources around us to bring you the latest on local and not-so-local brews.

Your authors, Andy and Julia (that would be me), are a couple of Bay Area beer lovers who decided that merely drinking epic amounts of beer was not enough—we wanted to spend our spare time writing about it too. I started drinking beer during a year abroad in England, where I volunteered at CAMRA’s Cambridge Beer Festival in May 2010 and also developed a passion for whisk(e)y and hard cider. I like porters and stouts and just about anything flavored with chili peppers. When not drinking I write and perform one-woman shows and get paid to run after other people’s children. Andy is a self-professed quad snob who works at a prominent Belgian beer bar in the East Bay. He likes super depressing but gorgeously photographed films and has better taste in music than me.

In the next week, look for a post about the Westvletern XII craze and a guide to writing tasting notes. And be sure to follow us on Twitter! Here’s to a bright beer blogging future.

Cheers,
Julia
